The nature of the Moon has been the subject of much debate. What can we know about it based from a scriptural standpoint? One of the first allusions to the Moon is in the book of Genesis (1:16) The greater light (Sun) represents Christ and his Earthly walk. The Moon metaphorically represents me. God wanted to be sure to underline the importance of the Sun and Moon in the Gospel story. He makes it very clear that: 1: The lion's share of the work gets done given the added benefit of sun or moonlight 2: This lion's share is done by consecrated Jews. We do know that the Moon is considered an image of the Sun. Even though: -It is a work in progress. -It did not arrive at its current position overnight. It is still considered a highly-reliable representation of the Sun. One would hope, as the Moon is also known as the Sun's right arm. I can be relied upon not because of who I am or what I have done. I can be relied upon because of the One that has empowered and sent me.
