"Indigent."

When I was locked up, I was declared "indigent" at one point. It's the fanciest way I've ever heard of just to say "broke." It just sounds better that way, doesn't it? "Inmate is currently indigent" versus "Inmate is currently broke as a joke." The poll-tested keyword fools your brain into thinking that you are better off than you might have thought. Maybe now you won't feel like hanging yourself with the shoestring that you found under the mattress, or gouging your eyeballs out with your breakfast spork.

You're not broke, just "indigent."

Take it easy, pal.

Everything is going to be O.K.
